EA SPORTS UFC 5 is a mixed martial arts game built on Frostbite, released on 27 October 2023 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version and no PS4 version. It introduced visible facial damage, doctor stoppages and a faster route into submissions, and it is the last UFC game EA shipped before UFC 6 arrived on 19 June 2026.

Its content run is finished: on 22 January 2026 EA stated that Patch 1.31 would be the final update to add new playable content. What remains is Fight Week, post-event fighter data and online maintenance. Install it in 2026 and you get a closed set — 31 content updates, 30 Fight Week events, 35 Punch Cards, 145+ Alter Egos, 80+ added fighters, 6 Legends and one new venue.

What this site is for

EA's tips library spreads the mechanics across ninety-odd short pages with inputs written once in Xbox notation; the controls hub prints the button map twice and never joins the two; the roster hub shows 74 cards with no numbers. This site joins those up: every mechanic becomes a row you read across — action, effect, PS5 input, Xbox input.

The state of the game in 2026

  • Content is closed, service is not. Fight Week challenges, Pick'ems and Punch Cards still run with every UFC numbered event, fighter records still update, and online play is supported on both consoles.
  • UFC 6 is out. EA released it on 19 June 2026, so UFC 5 is the previous title. That changes which game a new player should buy; it changes nothing about how UFC 5 plays.
  • Nothing is shared between platforms. No cross-play, no cross-progression. Progress lives on EA's servers, tied to the platform you play on.

Before you start: five things worth knowing

  • The Training Manual and Practice Mode sit under Learn in the main menu. The manual explains the inputs; Practice Mode is where you drill them.
  • Fighter type decides your starting ratings more than appearance does: 14 types across five styles.
  • Stamina has two bars. Current Stamina refills; Maximum Stamina is the grey bar behind it and only partly returns.
  • Blocking is directional: block stops head strikes, block plus the body modifier stops body strikes, and spamming one lane opens the other.
  • Submissions are a meter fight: a finish needs an empty Submission Resilience meter and a missed denial.

Quick answers

Does UFC 5 have a PC version? No — PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.

Cross-play? No, and no cross-progression either.

Still worth buying? UFC 5 is finished and cheap; UFC 6 is the live game.

How many fighters? 74 cards on the official roster hub.
